The behavior specialist will work with administrators, teachers, other school staff, and parents to promote an optimal learning environment for all students. Behavior specialist services are available to support student growth through the development, implementation, and monitoring of behavior interventions.  These services are focused on equipping schools, teachers, and families with skills and strategies to better address social-emotional and behavioral needs.  

  • Consultation for problem-solving in order to address behavior needs for students and/or classrooms across tiers 
  • Conduct functional assessments or analyses of problem behaviors
  • Lead teams to develop effective behavior interventions and supports
  • Conduct formal and informal observations of student behavior to examine instructional and environmental factors
  • Collaborative support for general education and/or special education settings
  • Designing and modeling interventions and data collection
  • Provide training and professional development to school staff to understand basic behavioral principles and implement practical and trauma-informed strategies and tools to build a positive climate
  • Coach teams in using best practices to respond to all phases of student behavior
  • Guide staff to improve student engagement and build positive relationships
  • Support compliance for functional behavior assessments and behavior intervention plans
  • Provide direct services for student behavior and social skills
  • Develop practices to improve home-school collaboration
  • Coach parents on effective strategies to use at home
  • Connect families with community-based providers and resources
