SST9 Attendance Training Full Day Overview
September 19 @ 8:30 am - 3:30 pm
Description
Student success starts with attendance and engaged learning, either in-person or remotely. As Ohio
recovers from the negative effects of the pandemic, many families still struggle with getting students
to school consistently and transitioning back to in-person learning. Students who are absent from
school misses important learning opportunities, which can be difficult or even impossible to make up.
Chronic absence, especially in the younger grades, can signal future high-risk patterns. In fact,
chronically absent students (those missing 10% of the school year or about 18 days or more) are
65% less likely to read proficiently by the end of third grade and 89% less likely to graduate from high
school on time. The goal of this professional learning opportunity is to support personnel from districts
and schools in understanding and using attendance data for improvement.
